FILING DOCUMENTS WITH THE IMMIGRATION COURT
Please refer to the Immigration Court Practice Manual for filing documents with the Immigration Court. A copy of this manual is available for viewing at the front window of the court.
Website: http://www.usdoj.gov/eoir or
http://www.justice.gov/eoir/vll/OCIJPracManual/ocij_page1.htm
The Court will accept documents filed by mail or personal service (but not by fax) if they conform to the requirements of 8 CFR and the Immigration Court Practice Manual. All submissions that are hand delivered to the Court will be time and date stamped. Do not leave your filing at the filing window and then leave the Court; a Court employee will need to review your filing. All documents must be accompanied by a proof of service declaring in writing that a copy has been served on the opposing party. Please note that there is an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) drop box outside the front door of the Portland Court which can be used to serve copies of documents on the ICE Office of the Chief Counsel.
BIOMETRIC/BIOGRAPHIC INFORMATION
For further guidance, please refer to the Immigration Court Practice Manual. An attorney from the Chief Counsel's office will serve the respondent a copy of the instruction sheet concerning biometric/biographic information at the respondent's immigration hearing when/if the respondent states their intent to file an application for relief.
