The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Alabama is currently prosecuting a case which alleges, among other things, mail fraud in connection with clients of Court Mediation Services, a company that operated a “Debt Elimination Plan” in Phenix City, Alabama and Columbus, Georgia. This alleged fraud occurred from 2004 through 2011 in the Middle District of Alabama, the Middle District of Georgia, Springfield, Missouri, and elsewhere. Also, please take the following steps as soon as possible:

  1. Report incidents of identity theft to the FTC at consumer.ftc.gov or call the FTC Identity Theft hotline at 877-438-4338 or TTY 866-653-4261. Be sure to call the Hotline to update your complaint if you have any additional information or problems.

  2. Contact the fraud departments of the three major credit bureaus:

    Equifax – www.equifax.com 1-800-525-6285
    Experian – www.experian.com 1-888-397-3742
    TransUnion – www.transunion.com 1-800-680-7289

  3. Close any accounts that have been tampered with or opened fraudulently.

An indictment is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
