The United States Attorney's Office has internship positions available for students currently attending a college or university. The undergraduate internship program is a wonderful opportunity for students who wish to acquire practical work experience in a legal setting.

There are four positions available:

Intern to the Criminal Division – Will organize and facilitate discovery and provide support to investigations and litigation in a variety of criminal matters. Other responsibilities may include assisting the Litigation Support Section with the preparation of graphic, audio and visual exhibits for trials.

Intern to the Civil Division – Will assist the Civil Division in trial preparation by assisting with the processing of discovery materials. Interns will organize data, and prepare discovery binders.

Intern to the Computer Section - Will assist the Computer Section with computer help calls by providing end users with software and hardware support. Additional duties may include the processing of administrative documents and distributing mail.

Intern to the Human Resources Section – Will assist the Human Resources Section by performing general clerical duties such as utilizing computers to enter and retrieve information, process mail and prepare training request forms.

Salary: Uncompensated. Although the internships are uncompensated, interns will gain invaluable work experience.

To qualify for these positions, you must:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Be able to successfully pass the security requirements occupying a sensitive position.
  • Be available to work 40 hours a week (day shift). Internship is available from May 2011 to August 2011.
