Administrative Division

The Administrative Division consists of Budget and Finance, Human Resources, Support Services, and Office Automation and Information Systems. The purpose of the Administrative Division is to provide a full range of office support as well as advise and assist the United States Attorney and management officials on administrative matters.

Appeals and Resource Counsel Division

The Appeals and Resource Counsel Division is responsible for cases on appeal to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in both criminal and civil cases. The section also handles some of the post-conviction prisoner petitions and motions. The responsibilities of the Appellate Division include writing briefs and presenting arguments in the circuit court of appeal, assisting other AUSAs in drafting and editing briefs, and conducting moot courts and otherwise preparing AUSAs for oral arguments.

Civil Division

The Civil Division of the United States Attorney's Office represents the United States, its agencies, departments, and their officers in federal and state courts. The Civil Division is divided into three areas: Affirmative Civil Enforcement (ACE), Civil Defensive, and Financial Litigation.

Criminal Division

The Criminal Division is the largest division in the office. Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) in the Criminal Division prosecute cases arising from a wide array of criminal activity. The Criminal Division is divided into several sections. The organization of the criminal division reflects the prosecution priorities of the Department Of Justice and the United States Attorney.
