Meet the U.S. Attorney

U.S. Attorney Jane Young

        Jane E. Young is the 58th United States Attorney for the District of New Hampshire.  Nominated by President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. on January 26, 2022 and confirmed by the United States Senate on April 27, 2022, Ms. Young assumed the role as the chief federal law enforcement officer for the District of New Hampshire on May 2, 2022.


          Prior to her confirmation as the United States Attorney, Ms. Young served as the Deputy Attorney General for the New Hampshire Department of Justice for four years.  As Deputy, she oversaw a staff of approximately 170 lawyers, investigators, paralegals, medical professionals and support staff.  In addition to her leadership and management duties, Ms. Young spearheaded complex investigations and prosecuted various crimes to include public integrity crimes and homicides.


          Over her thirty‐year career at the New Hampshire Department of Justice, Ms. Young  held various leadership positions including Director of the Division of Public Protection, the longest serving Chief of the Criminal Justice Bureau, and Chief of the Drug Unit. Ms. Young began her legal career serving as an Assistant County Attorney in the Hillsborough County Attorney’s Office.


          Ms. Young received her Juris Doctorate from the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law in 1989 and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Anselm College in 1986.
