Meet the U.S. Attorney

Acting U.S. Attorney Jay McCormack assumed the role of Chief Federal Law Enforcement Officer for the District of New Hampshire by virtue of the Federal Vacancies Reform Act, effective January 18, 2025.
Acting U.S. Attorney McCormack is a career prosecutor. Prior to his appointment as First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of New Hampshire, he was a Trial Attorney in the Health Care Fraud Unit of the Criminal Division’s Fraud Section at the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. In that position, he specialized in white-collar and complex investigations involving health care fraud, opioid diversion, securities fraud, COVID-19 and Paycheck Protection Program loan fraud.
Previously, Acting U.S. Attorney McCormack was an Assistant Attorney General in the Medicaid Fraud Division of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, where he specialized in criminal and civil health care fraud investigations. Prior to that, he served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Bureau of the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office where he investigated and prosecuted homicide and public integrity matters statewide.
Acting U.S. Attorney McCormack graduated from Suffolk University Law School. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Richmond.
