Lancaster county man charged with possession of child pornography
Richard Dean Russell, 52, of New Holland, PA, was charged today, by information, with possession of child pornography, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger. The indictment charges Russell with one count of possessing child pornography on October 17, 2012.
If convicted the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of 10 years imprisonment.
The case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Albert S. Glenn.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
