David J. Freed took the oath of office November 27, 2017, to become U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Mr. Freed was nominated to serve as U.S. Attorney by President Trump on September 8, 2017, and was confirmed by the United States Senate on November 15, 2017. 

 

Mr. Freed, of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, has an extensive background in public service including serving as the Cumberland County District Attorney since 2006, First Assistant District Attorney in Cumberland County and as an Assistant District Attorney in York County. 

 

Mr. Freed began his career as a law clerk for Judge Harold Sheely of the Cumberland County Court of Common Pleas and also served as President of the Pennsylvania District Attorney’s Association from 2013-2014.

 

Mr. Freed earned his bachelor’s degree in History and Journalism from the Washington and Lee University and his law degree from the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
