UNITED STATES ATTORNEY'S OFFICE FOR THE MIDDLE DISTRICT OF TENNESSEE LANGUAGE ASSISTANCE

The Middle District of Tennessee has a vibrant and diverse minority population, which includes a substantial number of Spanish-speaking individuals, as well as the largest Kurdish population in the southeastern United States, a significant Asian community, and other non-English speaking persons. There also are over 250,000 D/deaf and hard of hearing individuals throughout the region.

The USAO-MDTN is committed to ensuring that services are easily accessible to all Limited English Proficiency (LEP) individuals residing in or doing business in our District.

ADVISEMENT:

1. The USAO-MDTN will take reasonable steps appropriate to the circumstances to ensure that interpreting and translation services, as well as auxiliary aids, are provided to all LEP individuals having business with the USAO-MDTN.
    
2. If an interpreter is needed, the USAO-MDTN will provide only qualified interpreters with the appropriate level of fluency, comprehension, and confidentiality for the specific nature, type and purpose of information at issue. LEP individuals also may choose to secure an interpreter at their own expense.
    
3. The USAO-MDTN has in place personnel or language assistance resources capable of providing information and/or instructions in the most frequently requested languages. Spanish assistance may be available. All other language assistance will be addressed on a person-by-person basis.
    
4. A TTY/TDD phone is available for the D/deaf and hard of hearing in the USAO receptionist area. The telephone number is (615) 736-5461.

AVISO
