Project Safe Childhood

The United States Attorney's Office for the Western District of Tennessee is committed to the protection of our children.  The Internet and other advances in technology have brought about new obstacles for parents, teachers, and law enforcement.  Such technology can be used to gain access to our children in their homes, classrooms, libraries, and other locations.  It is estimated that, at any given time, 50,000 predators are on the Internet actively seeking out children.

Project Safe Childhood ("PSC") is a national law enforcement initiative announced by the U.S. Department of Justice in 2006.  Through PSC, there has been increased cooperation and communication between local, state, and federal law enforcement as well as non-government organizations working together to combat computer-facilitated sex crimes against children.

The Memphis Crimes Against Children Task Force is a major law enforcement component within our District dedicated on a full-time basis to identifying, rescuing, and assisting sexually exploited child-victims.  Additionally, the United States Attorney has specifically assigned two Assistant U.S. Attorneys to handle, exclusively, all child exploitation cases federally prosecutable within the Western District of Tennessee.

The Memphis Crimes Against Children Task Force can be contacted directly by calling 901-747-4300, or by sending an email to: CACTF.memphis@ic.fbi.gov

Increased public awareness regarding Child Internet Safety is also an integral part of this Office's Project Safe Childhood program.  We are interested in providing information to the public by all available means.  Click on the link below for direct email notification:
