Mission Statement

Welcome to the United States Attorney's Office for the Western District of Washington. As the chief federal law enforcement officer in Western Washington, it is the job of the U.S. Attorney and her staff to enforce the criminal laws of the United States by directing and prosecuting cases developed by a network of federal law enforcement agencies. This office also fills a critical role as legal counsel for the United States government including federal agencies involved in litigation. This web site will provide you with important information about our office and our mission.

In the aftermath of September 11th, we have learned that sharing investigative information between federal, state and local partners is a key element of effective law enforcement. With that in mind, we have launched LInX (Law Enforcement Information eXchange). The program allows law enforcement agents and officers from each community in our state to benefit from information gathered by other federal, state or local law enforcement agencies. This data is critical not only for officer safety, but for the safety of the community as a whole as we seek to execute the President's and Attorney General's number one priority: the prevention and disruption of terrorism.

The threats to our communities are many: terrorism, gun violence, organized crime, gangs and the scourge of drug dealing. In an increasingly complex world, many of these crimes cross borders and span cyberspace– they target both our physical and financial security. The 65 attorneys and 55 support staff in this office work every day to enhance the safety and security of Western Washington and make it an even better place to live.
