The Newark Immigration Court falls under the jurisdiction of the Office of the Chief Immigration Judge which is a component of the Executive Office for Immigration Review under the Department of Justice.

Our court has made a commitment to provide access to information through the Internet in order to service the needs of the public.

The Court is located at 970 Broad Street, Room 1200, Newark, New Jersey. The hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p. m. and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The phone number is 973-645-3524.

The Court conducts both detained and non-detained hearings at this location.

Visitor Information

The Newark Immigration Court is located at 970 Broad Street, Room 1200. For your convenience, we have also provided a link to a free mapping service.

The Immigration Court is open for business Monday through Thursday from 7:30a.m. to 5:00p.m. and Friday 7:30a.m. to 4:00p.m. The Court accepts documents (filed in accordance with the Practice Manual) in person Monday through Friday from 8:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. or by mail.

There is an U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Cash Office located on the 3rd floor of this building, Room 306. The USCIS Cash Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The USCIS Cash Office accepts cash, checks or money orders.

For your convenience, public restrooms are located on the 1st, 10th and 12th floors.

Entering the Building

All persons entering the Building must pass through a metal detector. All packages, briefcases, etc. will be x-rayed. No cameras or video equipment is allowed in the building. The building is a smoke-free facility.

A: No. Food and beverages are not permitted in the Courtrooms.

Q: How do I notify the Court if I change my address or move out of the state?
A: You must notify the Court of any change of address while under proceedings. Form EOIR-33, which is the form used to notify the Court of change of address can be obtained from the clerk or the Immigration Judge. This form must be submitted within five days from the date of your move. If you move out of state, you may request a "Change of Venue" from the Immigration Judge. However, until the Immigration Judge grants your request, you are required to appear at all scheduled hearings before the Court.

Q: Where do I pay fees for applications?
A: The Court does not accept fees. Application fees and bonds are collected by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). There is an USCIS Cash Office located on the 3rd floor of this building, Room 306. The DHS Cash Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The USCIS Cash Office accepts cash, checks or money orders. Please note the following:
1. Exact change (no change will be given)
2. Checks issued in your name only and for the exact amount. You must present state or government issued identification
(Driver's License, Alien Registration Card, Passport, etc). The cashier will not accept third party checks.
3. Money order for the exact amount

All checks and money orders should be made payable to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Courtroom Etiquette

Food and beverages are not permitted in the Courtrooms.

Parents with court hearings whose young children are not in proceedings are asked to have a responsible adult wait with the children in the reception area.
