Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee (LECC)

The Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee was established in 1981 in all 94 United States Attorneys’ Offices. LECC provides a network in Alaska for law enforcement agencies committed to the idea of communication, cooperation and coordination at all levels of state, local, and federal law enforcement. U.S. Attorney Bryan Schroder continues the office's historical commitment to cooperation and partnerships with fellow law enforcement agencies directly and indirectly through LECC.

The LECC mission is to facilitate and promote communication, cooperation and coordination among state, local, and federal law enforcement agencies within Alaska by providing resources, information, training and technical assistance, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of the criminal justice system.

This mission is accomplished in many ways, but the main focus of our LECC program is training. The LECC sponsors and co-sponsors training seminars for federal, state and local law enforcement agencies addressing a variety of subjects such as criminal intelligence, gang enforcement, anti-terrorism, urban and rural drug enforcement, Project Safe Neighborhood, Project Safe Childhood, asset forfeiture and equitable sharing, interview and interrogation, search and seizure, community policing and many other topics to help officials stay abreast of the latest information. The training sponsored by LECC is usually low or no-cost training seminars.

Through these seminars and various meetings, the LECC provides a forum for the open exchange of ideas and information among law enforcement agency members and will continue to lend support to facilitating cooperative and joint law enforcement operations.
