Channing D. Phillips was appointed as the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia on October 19, 2015 . Mr. Phillips formerly served as counselor to the Attorney General, and also served as the Executive Director for the Attorney General’s Diversity Management Advisory Council and was the day-to-day coordinator for diversity-management issues within the Department and the Department’s primary contact for external agencies on these issues.

It is the largest United States Attorney's Office with over 350 Assistant United States Attorneys and over 350 support personnel. The size of this Office is the result of the breadth of our responsibility for criminal law enforcement and our location in the nation's capital.
