Fort Kent Man Pleads Guilty To Stealing Drugs

Bangor, Maine: United States Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II announced that Roland
Roy, Jr., 51, of Fort Kent, Maine pled guilty today in United States District Court to stealing
Hydrocodone.

According to court records, Roy was a pharmacy technician at Northern Maine Medical
Center (NMMC) when NMMC realized that a large quantity of Hydrocodone pills were missing
from its pharmacy. The investigation revealed that Roy ordered large quantities of Hydrocodone
pills and then stole more than $1,000 worth of them. Roy admitted to NMMC’s human
resources director that he had taken a majority of the missing pills.

Roy faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, or both. He will be sentenced
after completion of a presentence investigation report by the United States Probation Office.

The investigation was conducted by the Office of Inspector General of the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services.
