Since the events of September 11, 2001,the Department of Justice’s number one priority has been the prevention andprosecution of terrorist related acts, and national security. The Department of Justice’s approach to protectingthe U.S.from terrorism is three-pronged, focusing on the prevention of terrorist acts, the investigation of threats and incidents, and the prosecution of thoseaccused of committing crimes by terrorist means.
The District of Vermont’s Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council (ATAC) provides a central forum for agencies to congregate andidentify potential terrorism links among their investigations. As the entitiesthat work regularly with all enforcement agencies, the Vermont ATAC ispositioned to bring agencies together which would not otherwise know that theirrespective investigations are linked.
Every citizen has a role to play inpreventing terrorism and ensuring our national security. If you see suspicious activities, pleasecontact your nearest FBI office.
