Douglas Assigned to Criminal Division in Martinsburg
MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA — United States Attorney William Ihlenfeld,

II today officially announced the appointment of Jarod J. Douglas to the position of Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of West Virginia.  Douglas, who was formally administered the oath of office on Monday by Judge Gina M. Groh, will prosecute federal criminal matters occurring in the Eastern Panhandle.

Douglas previously served in civil division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office under the Attorney General’s Honors Program, and prior to that served as a law clerk for Chief Judge John Preston Bailey. Douglas is a 2009 graduate of the West Virginia University College of Law, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board. He also received his undergraduate degree from WVU while competing for the Mountaineer football team.

“Jarod is a great addition to our criminal division and will help to boost our prosecutions of drug traffickers and violent criminals,” said U.S. Attorney Ihlenfeld. “He
will work closely with our drug task forces to aggressively target the sources of supply of
heroin and other drugs to the area, whether those targets are within West Virginia or in places like Baltimore and Washington D.C.”

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District is responsible of the prosecution of all federal crimes that occur in thirty-two of West Virginia’s counties, including Jefferson, Berkeley, Morgan, Mineral, and Hampshire.  The criminal division of the office is led by Criminal Chief Shawn Morgan and Deputy Criminal Chief Randy Bernard.
