Michael J. Fraggetta

Michael J. Fraggetta is the Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Operations in the National Fraud Enforcement Division, where he oversees the operational support functions in the Division, including the Executive Office, the Information Technology Section, the Litigation Support Section, Strategic Analysis Section, Strategic Communications Section, the Criminal Investigation Section, and the General Counsel’s Office. Michael joined the Fraud Division in April 2026. 

Michael has been with the Department of Justice for over a decade.  During his tenure he has served in several capacities, including as an Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General with the Office of Legislative Affairs, where he worked with Congress to secure passage of the Halt Fentanyl Act.  He also served as the Chief Counsel for the Drug Enforcement Administration, where he advised the DEA Administrator on sensitive legal issues and oversaw an office of over 150 attorneys and support staff.

Before joining the Department, Michael served as an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County, New York, where he prosecuted a variety of criminal cases from financial to violent crime. He also spent two years litigating civil matters in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. Michael clerked for the Honorable Cindy K. Jorgenson in the District of Arizona. He earned his law degree, cum laude, from Jacob D. Fuchsburg Touro Law and got his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Hofstra University.
