NIJ Issues & Practices: Containing the Costs of Indigent Defense Programs: Eligibility Screening and Cost Recovery Procedures (NCJ 103682)

This report reviews two of the most popular methods of cost control in indigent defense programs: 1) systematic review of defendant’s eligibility for representation, and 2) costs recovery for those defendants able to contribute to the costs of their defense.
