D. Lowell Jensen was the 21st Deputy Attorney General of the United States. He served as the Department’s second-ranking official from May 1985 to April 1986.

Prior to his appointment as Deputy Attorney General, Mr. Jensen served as Associate Attorney General, the Department’s third-ranking position, beginning in 1983. He was Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Criminal Division from 1981 to 1983.

Mr. Jensen served as district attorney of Alameda County, California, from 1969 to 1980; assistant district attorney of Alameda County from 1966 to 1969; and deputy district attorney of Alameda County from 1955 to 1966.

A native of Utah, Mr. Jensen graduated from the University of California, Berkeley (A.B., 1949) and the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law (LL.B., 1952).
