Deputy Attorney General: David W. Ogden
David W. Ogden was the 34th Deputy Attorney General of the United States. He served as the Department’s second-ranking official from March 2009 to February 2010.
During his tenure as Deputy Attorney General, Mr. Ogden led major Department of Justice and Executive Branch initiatives addressing healthcare fraud, financial and mortgage fraud, international organized crime, drug cartels, immigration, international tax enforcement, federal compliance with criminal and civil discovery, and law enforcement in Indian Country.
Prior to his appointment as Deputy Attorney General, Mr. Ogden served as Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division (1991–2001). He also served as Chief of Staff and Counselor to the Attorney General (1997–1999), Associate Deputy Attorney General (1995–1997), and Deputy General Counsel and Legal Counsel at the U.S. Department of Defense (1994–1995).
Mr. Ogden graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1981, where he was editor of Harvard Law Review. He received a BA summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 1976.
