Trent McCotter

Trent McCotter became the Acting Deputy Attorney General on August 10, 2026.

Before rejoining DOJ in 2026, Trent served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia, as Deputy Associate Attorney General, Counsel in the Office of Legal Policy, and as Co-Managing Partner of his law firm. He argued before the Supreme Court in 2025.

As the head of ODAG, Trent oversees a team of lawyers and staff dedicated to implementing and defending the policies of President Trump and Attorney General Blanche.
