USA v. Wolfgang Valvoda

Case Number: 14-CR-30205

Wolfgang Valvoda, of Bratislava, Slovakia, was indicted for his role to conduct an international mass marketing business directory scheme through his business Construct Data Publishers which defrauded consumers in the U.S. and Canada, including victims in Madison and Richland counties in the Southern District of Illinois.

Valvoda has remained a fugitive since his indictment in December 2014. The Government believes him to be in Austria, but unfortunately, the U.S. does not have an extradition treaty with the country of Austria and thus, there are no realistic prospects for extradition.

Even if extradition was possible, prosecuting the case at this point would be very difficult due to the staleness of the evidence. Therefore, the Government plans to file a motion to dismiss the case on April 21, 2025.

If you believe you or someone you know has been victimized by this scheme and have a question or comment about the Government's intention to dismiss the indictment, call 618-628-3700 and ask to speak with Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott Verseman.
