Fact Witnesses

A fact witness is one who is subpoenaed to testify and recite facts or events in a particular matter before the Court. Serving as a witness in a court proceeding is a very important civic duty. The federal justice system cannot function without the participation of witnesses. Witnesses who receive a subpoena and appear for a court proceeding are entitled to certain reimbursements. Generally, each witness receives a stipend for each day's attendance and parking and mileage reimbursement. In some cases, travel provided by the least expensive method, and a certain meal and lodging allowance if you are required to stay overnight. Once you receive a subpoena, you will talk with a staff member about specific arrangements.
