Michael Granston

Michael Granston was the Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Commercial Litigation Branch and also served as the Division’s Deputy Designated Agency Ethics Official. Michael joined the Fraud Section of the Commercial Litigation Branch as a lateral attorney in 1997.  In 2013, he became the Director of the Fraud Section, where he championed the judicious enforcement of the False Claims Act to protect taxpayer funds against fraud and abuse, and helped shape the Division’s position on matters of False Claims Act interpretation and policy.

Before joining the Department, Michael Granston worked in the Washington D.C. office of Covington & Burling.  He is a graduate of Yale Law School, and clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit as well as the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
