
Ellison C. Travis
Ellison C. Travis has served as the Acting Executive Director of the National Center for Disaster Fraud (NCDF) since March 2021, managing an over 80-member staff of investigators, analysts, call center operations, and managers. Mr. Travis is committed to carrying out the mission of the NCDF to improve and further the prevention, detection, investigation, and prosecution of fraud related to natural and man-made disasters, and to advocate for victims of such fraud.
Mr. Travis is also the Acting U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Louisiana. In this position, he is the chief federal law enforcement official within the nine parishes that comprise the Middle District of Louisiana. He manages an office of approximately 60 attorneys and support personnel, and which was responsible for prosecuting more than 170 disaster fraud matters related to Hurricane Katrina, and is currently prosecuting disaster fraud cases involving FEMA assistance to residents of multiple parishes in Louisiana affected by significant flooding in August 2016.
Mr. Travis was with the Louisiana Department of Justice for over 20 years, where he served as Director of the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, Assistant Attorney General in the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, and Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Division. Mr. Travis has also served as an Assistant District Attorney. In his extensive experience as a prosecutor, Mr. Travis has prosecuted diverse criminal matters across multiple judicial districts in Louisiana, including violent crimes, financial crimes, and public corruption. A Louisiana native - he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Louisiana State University and his Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center.
