United States v. Daniel Arnold

United States v. Daniel Arnold

1:18-CR-21 (ADS) (EDNY)

Daniel Arnold pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mail fraud by brokering sales of consumer lists to be used by mailers to send fraudulent solicitations.  For more than ten years Arnold knowingly provided lists to a psychic mail fraud scheme operated by Patrice Runner (2:18-CR-578-JS (E.D.NY)). The scheme went by multiple names, including Destiny Research Center (“DRC”). In general, the conspirators sent letters to vulnerable consumers pretending to be communications from renowned “psychics,” such as “Maria Duval” or “Patrick Guerin,” falsely claiming to be personalized to each recipient and promising unique objects, or some kind of clairvoyant service upon payment of a fee. In actuality, the solicitations were mass-produced and sent to millions of people, many of whom Arnold identified as good targets for the fraud in his capacity as list broker, and a percentage of whom – mostly elderly or otherwise vulnerable – sent payments to the fraudsters in accordance with the instructions on the solicitations.
