Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Special Litigation

Sarmad M. Khojasteh

Sarmad M. Khojasteh serves as the Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Special Litigation of the Civil Division.  He previously served as Senior Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General of the Civil Division.

Prior to joining the Department, Sarmad was a partner at King & Spalding LLP in New York where he focused on the resolution of complex commercial disputes over a broad range of substantive areas, including securities and credit-related matters, commercial and contract disputes, corporate governance issues, and general commercial disputes.  Earlier in his career, Sarmad was a partner at Kasowitz LLP. 

Sarmad is a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School and Colgate University.  He clerked for the Honorable Terrence W. Boyle on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
