CRS Leads Protecting Places of Worship Forum in Miami
The Community Relations Service (CRS) staff facilitated a Protecting Places of Worship forum in Miami, Florida, on January 30, 2024. The event was hosted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida.
The forum brought together nearly 200 faith and community leaders and law enforcement personnel. The focus of the session was to prevent and combat hate crimes and discuss strategies and resources to protect faith-based facilities.
CRS’ Protecting Places of Worship Forum provides effective strategies for communities to safeguard their places of worship against potential threats. CRS convenes experts from federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, along with faith-based organizations. These experts offer information and resources related to hate crime laws, handling active shooter situations and ensuring physical security at religious buildings.
