The Land Acquisition Section secured sites for the construction of the Missouri River Dams. The Pick-Sloan Flood Control Act of 1944 authorized the construction of thousands of dams across the Nation including the Missouri River dams. The Missouri River dams were built by the United States Army Corps of Engineers to control water resources and prevent flooding.
