Redwood National Park

The Land Acquisition Section secured sites for the expansion of Redwood National Park. Congress established the Park in 1968, preserving 58,000 acres of redwood trees. A major Congressionally-authorized expansion took place 10 years later, protecting an additional 48,000 acres. The Park protects 45% of California’s remaining Coastal Redwood old-growth forests which include some of the tallest and oldest trees on Earth.
