Southwest Border Fence

The Land Acquisition Section secured sites along the border for the construction of the United States/Mexico Border Fence. In 1996, Congress passed the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act to protect our nation's borders, promoting anti-terrorism efforts. The Act mandated building 700 miles of fencing along the US-Mexico border.
