Tribal Coalitions Program
The Tribal Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Coalitions Grant Program (Tribal Coalitions Program) builds the capacity of American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian women’s organizations, and victim service providers to form nonprofit, nongovernmental Tribal domestic violence and sexual assault coalitions.
Tribal Coalitions grant funding can be used to:
- Increase awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault against American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian women;
- Enhance the response to violence against American Indian, Alaska Native, or Native Hawaiian women at the federal, state, and Tribal levels;
- Identify and provide technical assistance to coalition members and Tribal communities to enhance access to essential services to American Indian, Alaska Native, or Native Hawaiian women victimized by domestic and sexual violence, including sex trafficking;
- Assist American Indian Tribes, Alaska Native Tribes, Alaska Native Villages, or Native Hawaiian communities in developing and promoting state, local, and Tribal legislation and policies that enhance best practices for responding to violent crimes against Indian, Alaska Native, or Native Hawaiian women, including domestic and dating violence, sexual assault, sex trafficking, and stalking.
Eligible applicants
- OVW-designated Tribal coalitions and OVW recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit, nongovernmental American Indian organizations, Alaska Native organizations, or a Native Hawaiian organization that propose to incorporate and operate a Tribal coalition in areas where American Indian Tribes, Alaska Native Villages, or Native Hawaiian communities are located but no Tribal coalition exists.
