New Association Forming ASAP

An organizational meeting to form an association for all who work with openness-in-government laws will be held Wednesday, October 22, 1980, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m., at the HHS Auditorium, Hubert Humphrey Building, 200 Independence Avenue, S.W., Washington, D.C. The group with responsibilities under FOIA, PA, FACA and the Sunshine Act began meeting in the spring and surveyed colleagues to identify pressing issues in the administration of these openness laws and to select the kind of organization needed to address their concerns.

People working with openness laws felt the need for both an official inter-agency group and an independent professional association. The transition team working on forming American Society of Access Professionals include Russ Roberts, Milt Jordan, Marilyn McLennan, Cathy McMillan, Kathy Semone, Ed Shomaker, Marye Gannett and Carl Coleman.
