The Selma March
The attack on peaceful marchers on the Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama focused the Nation's attention on the extreme measures used to prevent black citizens from exercising their constitutional right to vote. The Selma March was a pivotal moment leading to Congress' enactment of the Voting Rights Act in 1965 .
