William N. Taylor II

William N. Taylor II was appointed Deputy Assistant Attorney General on January 2, 2024. Mr. Taylor oversees the Department-level Security and Emergency Planning Staff, Office of Compliance and Review, Facilities and Administrative Services Staff, Departmental Ethics Office, Executive Records and Information Management, and the Office of Acquisition Management. He chairs the Access Review Committee (ARC), serves as the Department’s Senior Procurement Executive (SPE), Suspension and Debarment Official (SDO) for procurement and non-procurement activities, Senior Agency Official for Records Management (SAORM), and Historic Preservation Officer (HPO).

He is a member of the Senior Executive Service and has a diverse background in administrative oversight and project management. Prior to his current role, he served as Senior Advisor to the previous Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Policy, Management, and Procurement (DAAG PMP) for a year and a half. During the previous 8 years, he served as Executive Officer to the U.S. Pardon Attorney with oversight over all administrative functions, as well as programmatic management of presidential clemency programs across multiple administrations. His career with DOJ began in 1994 when he was hired as an automated litigation support contractor with the Civil Division. He later became a Federal employee in 2007 when he was hired as Supervisory Paralegal over the Environmental Crimes Section of the Energy & Natural Resources Division (formerly the Environmental and Natural Resources Division or ENRD). From there, he held various leadership positions, including Case Manager for the Deepwater Horizon Criminal Task Force and ENRD’s Assistant Director of the Office of Litigation Support.
