In Gabon last month, the Justice Department’s Environment and Natural Resources Division (ENRD), in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and the Gabon Ministry of Water and Forests, the Sea and the Environment, led a five-day multilateral workshop that included Cameroon and Vietnam to combat illegal timber trade and strengthen legal timber commerce.

Between April 16 and April 24, ICITAP, in coordination with the U.S. Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) and the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City, engaged senior leadership from the Attorneys General’s offices of three central Mexican states – Puebla, Morelos, and Guanajuato – to reaffirm longstanding collaboration and identify opportunities to expand assistance in opioid detection and digital forensics, underscoring ICITAP’s central role in strengthening forensic and investigative capacity among key regional partners.

On April 12, the construction of a new administrative complex for the Special Marine Unit in Armenia’s Gegharkunik region entered its final phase, marking a significant advancement in strengthening emergency response capabilities at Lake Sevan and enhancing the operational readiness of frontline personnel responsible for safeguarding public safety.

On April 7, at the second U.S.–North Macedonia Strategic Dialogue held in Washington, D.C., senior officials from the U.S. Department of State and North Macedonia’s Ministry of Interior advanced a shared agenda focused on strengthening border security and countering transnational threats in a region critical to European stability. 

On March 30, in support of ICITAP’s Advancing Counterterrorism Initiatives and Operational Needs (ACTION) Program, a delegation from ICITAP and the U.S. Embassy Conakry Regional Security Office met with senior officials from Guinea’s Ministry of Security in Conakry to strengthen partner capacity against terrorism and transnational threats.

From March 23 to March 27, ICITAP delivered a Financial Investigative Techniques for Transnational Crime and Money Laundering training course in Budva, in partnership with U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Criminal Investigation specialists.
