Ryan Janis - University of Idaho
Working at the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Idaho has truly been the most rewarding legal job I have had during my tenure as a law student. Having had an internship with a civil firm, and an internship with a public defender’s office, I can truly say that I have learned the most, and gained the most valuable insight from the work I have done at the U.S. Attorney’s office. Working on federal cases with experienced lawyers who have varied experiences and backgrounds is something that greatly enhanced my time at the office. If there is anything I can recommend to any future extern/interns it would be to talk to as many of the AUSAs as you can, they have a bounty of information and pearls of wisdom they can pass along to you. Overall, working with the attorneys at the office enabled me to know what kind of lawyer I want to be. The attorneys who work here have an utmost respect for the profession, and hold themselves to the highest ethical standards. It was an unforgettable experience, which I know will benefit me immensely as I move forward with my career in the legal profession.
