York County Couple Indicted On Child Exploitation Charges

HARRISBURG - The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that on March 2, 2022, Wyatt Jones, age 26 and Marisel Toro, age 21, of York, Pennsylvania, were indicted by a federal grand jury for child exploitation offenses.
According to U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus, the indictment charges Jones and Toro with conspiracy to produce child pornography, production of child pornography, distribution of child pornography, and possession of child pornography. The indictment alleges that Jones and Toro committed the offenses between October 2020 and April 2021.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the York City Police Department, and the United States Probation Office. Assistant United States Attorney Paul J. Miovas, Jr. is prosecuting the case.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys' Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims. If convicted, the maximum penalty under federal law for the offenses charged in the indictment is life imprisonment, a lifetime term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine. There is also a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years’ imprisonment for the defendants if convicted of production of child pornography. A sentence following a finding of guilt is imposed by the Judge after consideration of the applicable federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
Indictments are only allegations. All persons charged are presumed to be innocent unless and until found guilty in court.
