Grand Jury Returns Indictments

MINNEAPOLIS—A federal grand jury in the District of Minnesota, sitting in St. Paul, recently returned the following indictments. Mexican citizen charged with illegal re-entry into U.S.

Alonzo Cid-Escatel, age 36, a citizen of Mexico found in Pipestone, Minnesota, is charged with one count of illegally re-entering the United States after previously being deported.

If convicted, Cid-Escatel faces a potential maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. This case is the result of an investigation by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David P. Steinkamp.

Minneapolis man charged with possessing with intent to distribute methamphetamine

Isreal Landa-Leon, age 28, of Minneapolis, is charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

If convicted, Landa-Leon faces a potential maximum penalty of 40 years in prison. This case is the result of an investigation by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Amber M. Brennan.

Arizona man charged with filing a false tax return

Brian Christopher Neary was charged with one count of filing a false tax return. If convicted, Neary faces a potential maximum penalty of three years in prison. This case is the result of an investigation by the Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigations. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David J. MacLaughlin.
