Baltimore Woman Sentenced for Fentanyl Trafficking

ELKINS, WEST VIRGINIA – Daniela Marie Giancoli, age 35, of Baltimore, Maryland, was sentenced today to 150 months in federal prison for supplying fentanyl to dealers in West Virginia.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Giancoli and co-defendant, Michael Matthews, worked together out of their Baltimore apartment to sell drugs to more than 10 dealers in Grant County, WV.  During the investigation nearly 9,000 fentanyl pills, weighing more than two kilograms, were seized.

Giancoli will serve three years of supervised release following her prison sentence.

Matthews previously pled guilty and was sentenced to 100 months in prison.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Warner prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.

The Potomac Highlands Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, investigated.

Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided.
