Shreveport Man Sentenced To 87 Months In Prison For Receiving Child Pornography

SHREVEPORT, La. – A Shreveport man was sentenced to 87 months in prison and a lifetime of supervised release for receiving child pornography on his home computer, U.S. Attorney Stephanie A. Finley announced today.

Kelvin McCallister, 45, of Shreveport, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge S. Maurice Hicks Jr. for one count of receiving child pornography. According to evidence presented at the April 14, 2014 guilty plea, law enforcement detected a computer accessing child pornography online.  The signal was traced to a computer in Shreveport. McCallister’s home was searched on May 23, 2013 and various types of child pornography were found on a computer.

Homeland Security Investigations-ICE and the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office conducted the investigation.  Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon B. Brown prosecuted the case. This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a U.S. Department of Justice nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.  Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.  For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit www.justice.gov/psc.
