United States v. Nachiket Banwari - Case Number 3:23-cr-62 - Bill of Indictment filed March 22, 2023

Nachiket Banwari has pleaded guilty to wire fraud conspiracy for engaging in a technical support fraud scheme. The scheme involved tricking victims into paying for unnecessary computer technical support for non-existent computer issues.
Banwari and his co-conspirators operated this fraud scheme between June 2014 and August 2018 through several different entities:
Capstone Technologies
Authenza Solutions
MS-Squad
MS Infotech
United Technologies
Real Tech Solutions
Tech Squad
Reventus Technologies

Victims were connected over the phone with the conspirators’ call center through cold calls, advertising, and malicious pop-ups. Pop-ups were computer prompts which temporarily locked victims’ computers, displayed messages containing false representations of diagnosing operating system or network infirmities, including viruses and instances of unauthorized network intrusions, and directed victims to contact a toll-free number for technical assistance for removal. Victims were then charged by call center representatives for unnecessary technical support. Victim payments were made to these entities or others by credit card, debit card, bank transaction, or by mailing a physical check to a location in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The next court hearing is Mr. Banwari’s sentencing on December 9, 2025, at 9:00 am
