David C. Bohmerwald, 63, the owner of a Raleigh-based electronics resale business called Components Cooper Inc., pleaded guilty to attempting to export accelerometer technology with military applications to China without a license, in violation of the Export Control Reform Act (ECRA), and faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison when sentenced.

Jacksonville, Florida – Senior United States District Judge Brian J. Davis has sentenced Loranzia Outin, III (48, Jacksonville) to six years and five months in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Outin entered a guilty plea on December 12, 2024. 

Tampa, Florida – Acting United States Attorney Sara C. Sweeney announces that Juan Garcia Xinol (27, Mexico) has pleaded guilty to illegal reentry of removed alien. Garcia Xinol faces a maximum penalty of two years in federal prison. His sentencing hearing is set for May 23, 2025.

A 31-year-old Dallas resident has been charged with conspiring to transport, attempting to transport and transporting two undocumented minors illegally in the United States for financial gain

Jacksonville, Florida – Acting United States Attorney Sara C. Sweeney announces that Ping Ping Zheng (37, Jacksonville) has pleaded guilty to harboring undocumented aliens for commercial advantage and private financial gain. Zheng faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison. As part of the plea agreement, Zheng has agreed to forfeit to the United States a residence in Jacksonville and a transit van. A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office collected $1,996,578.60 in criminal and civil actions in fiscal year 2024. Of this amount, $1,740,383.23 was collected in criminal actions and $256,195.37 was collected in civil actions. 

A transient man was found guilty in October 2024 of First Degree Murder in Indian Country, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Brandishing and Discharging a Firearm During a Crime of Violence, and Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury in Indian Country.
