ICITAP Helps Raise Law Enforcement Training Standards Around the World

On June 12, ICITAP concluded its participation at the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) 2019 Conference in Milwaukee, WI. ICITAP’s delegation included over 40 law enforcement leaders from Albania, Bangladesh, Bosnia, Indonesia, Iraq, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, the Philippines, and the United States. IADLEST is a multi-disciplinary professional organization that is dedicated to the improvement of law enforcement practices. The organization's annual conference brings together law enforcement executives, training managers, and academy directors to exchange ideas and experiences regarding standards, certifications, and course development. ICITAP-sponsored participation in the IADLEST conference will assist foreign police training managers increase capacity and professional development. In addition, the opportunities presented at IADLEST will support U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Justice, and U.S. Embassy initiatives to improve institutional standards and strengthen training policies and procedures. The conference will cover strategies on strengthening professionalism in law enforcement, increasing officer safety, and reducing training costs and officer liability.
