Assistant Attorney General

A. Tysen Duva serves as the Assistant Attorney General of the Criminal Division.  In this capacity, Mr. Duva supervises the Division’s more than 1,100 federal prosecutors and staff members who conduct investigations and prosecutions involving violent crime, sex trafficking, cartels and transnational criminal organizations, human smuggling and trafficking offenses, cybercrime, fraud, corruption, money laundering, child exploitation and other crimes, as well as matters involving international affairs and sensitive law enforcement techniques.

Acting Chief Counselor

Keith D. Edelman was selected as the Criminal Division’s Acting Chief Counselor in March of 2025. In this role, he helps oversee the strategic and operational management of the Division’s 16 sections and offices. Keith is also a key advisor to the Assistant Attorney General on priority areas as they relate to the Division’s policy, regulatory, and legislative responsibilities.

Acting Chief of Staff & Counselor to the Assistant Attorney General

Mac Heavener III serves as the Acting Chief of Staff and Counselor to the Assistant Attorney General. In this role, Mac establishes and implements the strategic priorities and programmatic direction of the Division by advising the Assistant Attorney General on a broad range of issues, including those relating to the management of the Division’s resources.

Deputy Assistant Attorney General

Josh Goldfoot began serving in April of 2024 as Deputy Assistant Attorney General.  He oversees three Criminal Division sections: the Appellate Section (APP), the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), and the Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section (CCIPS).

Deputy Assistant Attorney General

Jennifer A.H. Hodge began serving as Deputy Assistant Attorney General in January 2020.  In that role, Ms. Hodge oversees the Criminal Division’s Office of Enforcement Operations (OEO) and the Public Integrity Section (PIN).

Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General

Hayden O’Byrne currently serves as the Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General over the Office of International Affairs (OIA), the Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance and Training (OPDAT) and the International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP).  

Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General

Hope S. Olds began serving as Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General in January 2025.  In that role, Ms. Olds oversees the Criminal Division’s Capital Case Section (CSS), the Violent Crime and Racketeering Section (VCRS), and the Human Rights and Special Prosecutions Section (HRSP), which leads Joint Task Force Alpha (JTFA).
