Philippines: ICITAP Strengthens Leadership Skills with Philippine National Police

On March 18, the ICITAP-Philippines mission reported on its collaboration with the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA). ICITAP-Philippines concluded a three-week training event at the PNPA in which the graduating class of 2019, consisting of 201 cadets – all of whom will assume leadership positions in the agency upon graduation – attended a one-week Leadership course and one-week Police Ethics course. In addition, the graduating class of 2020, also consisting of 201 cadets, completed a one-week Human Rights course.  Students were grouped in classes of approximately 20 students per class in order to provide a robust training environment. Consequently, ten iterations of each course were required to deliver the full complement of training.  A total of 47 ICITAP adjunct instructors delivered the training. In the Philippines, ICITAP partners with the State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) on this police development project.
