The Justice Department's Office of the Pardon Attorney hosted “The Case for Second Chances: A Conversation About Criminal Justice, Collateral Consequences and Clemency.” Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta delivered remarks virtually, followed by a panel discussion featuring justice-impacted advocates and experts. The discussion addressed the collateral consequences of incarceration, including economic effects on families and communities; interconnections with race and gender; and the role of record-clearing and clemency.
