832. Definitions, 18 U.S.C. 215(b)
Subsection (b) of 18 U.S.C. § 215 refers to 18 U.S.C. § 20 for the definition of "financial institution." The term includes the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and insured institutions, credit unions insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, and other Federally regulated financial institutions, such as small business investment companies (defined in the Small Business Investment Act of 1958), any Federal Home Loan bank or member of that system, and Federal Reserve Bank members.
