Deputy Assistant Attorney General

Kevin Driscoll

In June 2019, Kevin O. Driscoll was appointed as Deputy Assistant Attorney General (DAAG).  Kevin served as the DAAG for for the Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section (MLARS) and Narcotic and Dangerous Drug Section (NDDS) through January 2020, when through an organizational restructuring, Kevin assumed oversight over MLARS and the Public Integrity Section (PIN). Previously Kevin served for nearly two years as Acting Chief of Staff and Counselor to the Assistant Attorney General, and from February 2018 through October 2018 concurrently served as Acting DAAG for MLARS and NDDS.  

Kevin began his career with the Department of Justice and Criminal Division as a Senior Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General in 2006.  He served in that position for more than two years, advising the Assistant Attorney General and other Senior Department officials on a wide range of case-specific and policy issues, including public corruption, corporate fraud, the First Amendment and media-shield issues, and congressional oversight.

Kevin then joined PIN, where he spent almost eight years investigating and prosecuting federal, state, and local public officials for federal public corruption offenses.  During his tenure with PIN, Kevin helped lead many investigations and prosecutions, including the investigation and indictment of a veteran FBI counterintelligence agent and his coconspirators for bribery and wire fraud in connection with their efforts to obstruct a criminal investigation.  He also received the Assistant Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service on two separate occasions. 

From 2016-2017, Kevin served as the Chief of the Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section’s Policy Unit, where he was responsible for policy, regulation and legislation related to anti-money laundering (including Bank Secrecy Act enforcement), asset forfeiture, and counter-terrorist financing, among other issues.  Before joining the Department, Kevin was an associate at a prominent international law firm and a journalist.  He also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Diarmuid F. O’Scannlain, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. 

Kevin graduated magna cum laude from Yale University and received his J.D. from Stanford Law School, where he was an articles editor for the Stanford Law Review.
