United States v Rocket Mortgage (D. Colo.)
On October 21, 2024, the United States filed an “election” complaint in United States v. Rocket Mortgage, LLC, et al. (D. Colo.). The complaint alleges that the defendants discriminated against a Black homeowner in violation of the Fair Housing Act by undervaluing her home based on her race in an appraisal required as part of a home mortgage refinance application. The complaint also alleges that Rocket Mortgage retaliated against the homeowner and interfered with her rights by cancelling her mortgage refinance application when she reported this discrimination. Solidifi U.S. Inc., Maverick Appraisal Group Inc., and Maksym Mykhailyna are also named as defendants in the case. The case was referred to the Division after the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) received a complaint, conducted an investigation, and issued a charge of discrimination.
